Do not eat in the theater (final version)

People come to the theater to enjoy the great movie, big screen and comfortable seat. Meanwhile they can get entertainment and relax. Recently, our government passed a law that audiences are allowed to bring some food from outside the theater, but not for those food with strong smell or with soup. But the definition about strong smell is difficult to be defined, everyone has different opinions. Still many people are very happy about this news because foods in the theater are expensive. However, there are still some disadvantages about this regulation.
The first is the interference with others. Eating in the theater will disturb others watching movie. People will make a sound when they chew the food. Also when they try to reach food in the dark will also make noises. Other situations like people whispering about their food will also bother other people. Sometime eating in the movie theater will also disturb watching the movie ourselves. When we try to get the food in the dark, we may miss some part of the movie. Beside the noise, the smell is also a serious interference. We all realize people have different opinions about strong smell. For example, stinky tofu may be your favorite snack but it can cause serious antipathy. In a closed room like Movie Theater, air is difficult to circulate. Soon the room will be full of the smell. It will disturb other audiences.
The second one is the sanitation. Since the regulation that allows audience to bring food, the cleaning of the theater has became a serious problem. People left the trash or scrap when the movie is over. Those scraps may attract mice. Lately, some customers complained that they were bitten by mice while watching the movie. The manager of the theater also indicated that it is difficult to keep the environment clean after people are allowed to bring their own food. This phenomenon is risky because mice will cause some disease as well.
Lastly, research has shown that eating while watching movie will cause gallstones and make you fat. b
To sum up, eating in the theater has many serious effects and disadvantages. When we thought about eating our favorite food with our favorite movie, we should also consider others’ rights. We should also do our best to keep the environment. Pay more attention to this matter when we leave the theater. However, the best solution is not to eat at theater at all.

Teachers I've Met (final version)

Since being a student, I have met many teachers. Before going to the elementary school, I believe all teachers are kind, generous and patient. However, as time went by, my ideas have changed. In short, I divide those teachers I met into three categories.
First, there are teachers who try to do their best, but they don’t know how to. In this category, teachers teach their students with passion. They take their job seriously and try to get along with their students. However, they don’t realize their ways of teaching or communicating do not work at all. Students complain their teaching and not really want to spend more time with them outside the class. My teacher who taught history in the 5th grade was in this category. During the class, she always asked us to read a textbook and take notes on the blackboard. Sometime between classes, she would come to us and listen to our conversations then make comments. That always made us awkward. My friends always complained that History is boring enough, but under her teaching, History made him sleepy every time.
The second kind is the most awful one. Teachers teach by giving exams, and always bring their personal mood to the class. My teacher in junior high school is the most awful teacher I have met. He taught us Math for the whole three years. My poor Math ability is a result of his terrible teaching. During the class, he always gave us exams. And if he was not satisfied with our score, he would punish us. The worst of all, he was my homeroom teacher that means those time set for discussing the class affairs would become time for math tests. Every time when he showed up with a grim face, we all knew that we had to be extra-cautious on that day, because we knew it would be very easily to piss him off. Even though we were careful enough, he still could find some excuses to punish us. He was really the nightmare for all students.
The third one is the best you can have: teachers who are patient, care about students and try to make teaching interesting to make the content easily to be understand. My Math teacher in senior high school, who was also my homeroom teacher, is the best teacher I have ever had. She made Math easily to be understood. She never treated us harsh. She would have a lunch with our class and chat with everyone. Even now I have graduated from senior high school; she still calls and catch up with us. When I have a problem, she is still the first person I want to talk to. She is the teacher who really touches my heart not just my brain.
I am still a student. In college, there are still different teachers in some categories I mentioned above. I still believe teacher is a sacred job. And every one of them should do their best to fulfill this sacred title.

Class Writing 1

As a student who moves away from home for studying in Taipei, I have the experience of living in the dormitory. If someone wants to ask my preference, I will say that I prefer to live at home. There are two reasons for my preference.
First, living in the dormitory, you have to learn how to take care of yourself. You need to do the laundry regularly. And you have to prepare food for yourself in every single meal. Though living in the dorm is a great opportunity of learning to be independent, it usually leads some students to the failure of handling money and time.
Secondly, living in the dorm; you have to put more attention to your health situation. Since you have to eat meals outside, you may keep eating those garbage foods or not eating enough vegetables and fruits. When we live at home, our mothers will handle everything for us. By forcing we to eat vegetables can ensure us to get the necessary element for our body. But once you eat outside, you may loose control on your meals that makes you sick finally.
However, I believe that living in the dorm is a great experience of learning how important my family is. Living outside will make you want to spend more time with your family. Also it is a step to make you become more independent and be able to be responsible to yourself.

Dilemma to the Future (final version)

Before we are able to make the decision for ourselves, our parents always made them for us. What food we should eat; what clothes we should wear. As we growing up, sometimes parents forgot we aren’t children anymore, and they still try to make the decision for us. In my situation, my father always tells me that I should go to the graduate school after graduating from the college. However I don’t feel the same way.
My father tells me that he hope that I can grab every opportunity for studying and learning. He believes that these days, students graduated from university don’t have much superiority as them use to be. He thinks that people who with high educational background can find the great job easily. However, it is your attitude that makes the future not your degree. It is true that graduated school student can get the higher salary then college student. But there are also some graduate student become too proud, they won’t accept others even their boss criticize them. On the contrary, sometimes college students are humbler and are willing to get the lesson.
If I follow my father’s opinion, go to the graduate school. First, my father has to spend lots of money on my tuition. Second, the graduate school is all about research and writing those papers, browsing those documents. I will spend lots of time on those paper and research which are the most hateful thing to me as a student. That means my life in graduated school will be miserable. So why don’t I just start to find the job when I graduate from university? Then I can earn the money to support my family. Even in the future I plan to go to the graduate school; I can afford my own tuition; don’t have to spend my parent’s money. I really think it is the better choice
I know my father has a different opinion. But he just want me have a good job and a well-quality life in the future. What we need is not arguing who is right but to share our ideas. Let our parents know that we appreciate their concerns, but we are not children anymore. We have our own plans. It is time to let us make our own decisions and be responsible for ourselves.

chapter 5 - Playing House

1.
The question is "Do the chances of a successful  marriageactually improve by cohabiting?" And I think her answer is NO, she used many reports which show that cohabitation can suppress the development of a high level of commitment. People select cohabitation may end up no happy ending because their relation without any pressure to move on and make a real commitment.

2.
The cohabiting couples lack both specialization and commitment in their relationship. They live more financially and emotionally independent of one another to allow themselves the freedom to leave. This often results in less monogamous, short-term relationship. They find it much harder to trust each other financially without any legal bond.

Married couples specialize. They pool their money, time, and other resources, creating a higher quality lifestyle. They have more invested in their relationship and think longer before acting on their impulses and stepping outside of the relationship.

3.
I think Leigh dose not prefer cohabiting since he pointed out  those disadvantages of cohabiting. I think she encourage people choose marriage; try to responsible for every choice they made and try hard to make the marriage work out.

4.
I think the works cited are sufficient. They show the sources those were used in this research paper. However, I think as a research paper, it should have more sources.

5.
I think she can point out another advantage like Hospital Visitation. Also Gay people's marriage should be discussed since gay marriage are not allowed in many countries. These people can only choose cohabiting because they don't have the right to get married legally.

chapter 5 - Living on Tokyo Time

1.
I think he uses many examples in Japaneses' daily live. And those examples are those phenomenons  we can easily connect to Japanese, such like work 10 hours a day, rarely take any vacation. Busy may be the perfect description for Japanese.

2.
the question is ""Why doesn't this cradle- to-grave, manic schedule bother them?" i think the answer is that Japanese are born with the character like obligation, respect the elder.  They always follow rules and traditions. I think they prefer their live with orders and rules.

3.
I think the Japanese think that when they are doing their jobs; their time belong their company and their boss. I saw a movie talks about differences between american and Japanese labor. For example, Japanese won't ask extra salary  for overtime working. But American cares about their salary and always ask about bonus. They  think their time are precious. Their time are bought by the company; those time deserve high value.

4.
Butler prefers the American way of lifestyle. We can tall from how he describe Japanese lifestyle. He think if he lived the way like that; he would probably choose suicide. And he wrote about he would not trade his precious time for those convenient transportation.

5.
In paragraph 3, he wrote about American think that they trade their time for a steady salary which makes them felt their time are stolen. That shows American think time are their own properties.

Stop being one of them(final)

Stop being one of them

I remember those times when I was crazy about those Korean stars. I used to listen to their songs every day. When I saw those Korean shows on the TV, I would definitely stop to watching. I even spend a lot of money on the ticket of their concerts. However, I suddenly stop loving them.
I wasn’t falling in love with them at first sight. My friend was a huge fan of Korean culture. She liked Korean’s music, movie and drama. She always tried to make me be interested about them, but I just couldn’t. One day, I was watching a Korean show on the TV. I found that was hilarious. Those stars were trying their best to amuse audience, so I started to watch that show every week. I star to chatting with my friend about those Korean stars, music and drama. We even pay the money to learn Korean.
The year when we graduated from high school, our favorite Korean star was going to having a concert here in Taiwan. My friend and I were so excited that we decided to buy the ticket to the concert right away. We woke up in the three o’clock in the morning in order to get the number card that was necessary to buy the extra product like T-shirt and poster. We really enjoyed that concert. Watching those stars on the stage was like a dream. It was really memorable.
However, my interest to Korea stopped when I become a senior. It happened in a similar situation. I was watching TV, and I saw news about one of our players in Taiwan was judged unfairly by a Korean judge in an international game. I felt very angry about those Korean. Also, I saw other news about those Korean stars keep coming to Taiwan to have concerts or fan party and they got lots of money from Taiwan. Somehow at that moment, I felt extremely angry. I felt sorry about the money they took from us. I regreted that I spend lots of money in the past as well. From that moment, I refuse everything from Korea. I stop watching their show, drama and movie. I felt their music is annoying, so I delete every song in my mp3.
I even try to persuade my friend to stop crazy about it. I put all those stuff about Korea in a box and put it in the top of my cabinet. I hardly think about that box since then.
Now, when I see another new about how those crazy young girls stay in the airport, waiting for the star. I will yell at TV and tease those crazy girls. I know ironically, I was one of them. I understand that that experience will never be erased. I just hope that in the future, I will remember this experience and spend the money reasonably.

My special Place (final version)

During senior high school, especially the time before the University Entrance Examination, every day we were exhausted for those tests. After classes, we still had to stay at school for self-study. Those days are suffering. Luckily, I had a place to vent my stress. During the day, it was the playground crowded with student playing basketball. At night, it is my own special place where I could be relaxed and enjoy the peace.

There are two playgrounds in my high school. I spent more time in the one which is behind the gym, smaller but hidden. You can see inside of the gym through the big clean window. There is a swimming pool in the gym so you csn see people swim inside through the window. During the PE class, this playground did give me some pain when I had to run around the playground over and over again. But when we sat on the stairs, watching those handsome basketball players playing basketball. It was also a kind of pleasure.

While we were self-studying at night, I usually sneaked out the classroom for an hour. I liked the playground when nobody else there. It was quiet and safe since you didn’t have to worry about being hit by a basketball. The lighting in the gym would light the court at night. It was nice to sit in front of the window, seeing people swam in the gym. Swimming is one of my favorite sports. During the time preparing the test, I didn’t have much time for swimming anymore. Sometime I lie on the ground, feeling the quiet and peace. It felt like time was stop, nothing else mattered. I looked those shining stars in the sky, thinking about what it felt to look down from the sky. In this place, I had no pressure from parents, teachers and tests. I don’t have to care other people’s opinion. I was alone but surrounded by peace.

However, there were few times I got caught and had to run away from teachers. It was quite exciting actually. It felt like I was acting “Mission Impossible “. When I went back to the classroom, some friends would curious about where I go. I always lied to them that I went to the library. Though they are my friends I still didn’t want to share my secret place with them. The quiet is more valuable than friendship to me sometime.

After graduating from high school, I still go back to school sometimes, the playground always full of student playing basketball. Sometimes I just sit there, watching them playing basketball. They remind me those days, the time I spent in this playground. Although the time has changed, I can still remember the felling of being hugged by peaceful and quiet atmosphere here.
